Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to the most common questions about MiniHiki.
General
MiniHiki is a children's exercise app that brings the coach's training program to the child's phone. The coach plans the weekly program and the child completes short exercises — about 10 minutes a day — at home at their own pace. The app tracks progress and motivates the child with stars, streaks and the team leaderboard.
MiniHiki is designed for sports club coaches and their team's children. The app suits children of all ages — we recommend from 5–6 years up, with no upper age limit. MiniHiki works for all sports: football, ice hockey, volleyball, athletics, gymnastics and all others.
MiniHiki is available from the App Store (iPhone) and Google Play (Android). Search for "MiniHiki" in the store or use the direct links: App Store: apple.co/4wlQ7jj | Google Play: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sp.treeniapuri
The coach's getting started guide is at minihiki.com/aloita — there you'll find step-by-step instructions for creating an account, setting up a team and adding players. The quick guide for creating exercises is at minihiki.com/opas — it includes illustrated instructions for creating exercises and programs.
General support and app usage: support@minihiki.com. Club partnerships and sales: niku@minihiki.com. All contact information can be found at minihiki.com/yhteystiedot. We respond within 1–2 business days.
For Children
Download MiniHiki from the App Store or Google Play. Open the app and enter the join code you received by email or from your coach. You only need to log in once — after that, the app is always ready to use.
The join code can be found in the email you received when you were added to the team. If you can't find the message, ask a parent to check their email (the code is in the same message as the confirmation link) or ask the coach to resend the code.
Download MiniHiki on your new phone and enter the same join code. Your profile, exercise history and stars transfer automatically.
No. One MiniHiki app is enough — you can belong to multiple teams with the same app. All teams' exercises appear in the same view.
Open the app menu and select "Add team". Enter the new team's join code. Both teams' exercises will appear in the same view.
You earn stars for every completed exercise. Easy exercises give 1 star, medium 2, and hard 3 stars. When you complete all daily exercises, you get a streak bonus! Stars appear on the leaderboard where you can compare your progress with teammates.
For Parents
Under EU data protection regulation (GDPR), app use for children under 13 requires parental consent. The coach has added your child to the team and sent you a confirmation request. When you approve the confirmation link, your child can log in to the app. Also check your spam folder — the message might end up there.
We only store the child's name and completed exercises. We do not collect photos, location or other personal data. Data is shared only with the team's coach. We do not sell or share data with third parties.
The confirmation link is valid for 7 days. If it has expired, ask the coach to send a new confirmation message. Also check your spam folder — the first message from MiniHiki might end up there.
Not necessarily. A parent can download MiniHiki on their own phone and the child does the exercises on it. You can also exercise together — each exercise includes clear instructions.
Yes. On the child's app home screen, you can see together the daily exercises, progress and exercise history. Each exercise includes instructions, so a parent can support and participate in training.
Yes. The app has no ads, chat function or social media. The child only sees their own exercises and teammates' progress on the leaderboard. All content comes from the team's own coach.
No. Using the child's app is always free. The coach or club handles the MiniHiki subscription.
Contact support@minihiki.com or use the contact form at minihiki.com/yhteystiedot. We can revoke consent and delete your child's data. We process requests as quickly as possible.
For Coaches
Register as a coach, create a team and add players. Each player automatically gets their own personal code.
Open the team view and select "Add player". Enter the child's name, birth year and guardian's email. The app automatically creates a code that you can share with the child.
Open the player's profile in the team view and select "Remove player". The player's data and exercise history are permanently deleted.
Yes. In the coach dashboard you can see each player's progress, streaks and daily exercises.
Open the team's Program view. You can add exercises to different days of the week or create flexible exercises that the child can do during a chosen time period.
Yes. You can invite another coach to the team by sharing the coach code.
Each exercise gives the child stars based on difficulty: easy = 1, medium = 2, hard = 3 stars. The leaderboard shows the team's most active star collectors. You can adjust the leaderboard timeframe in settings (week, month, full season) and use it for rewards — for example, the most active of the month gets a small prize. The leaderboard can also be hidden from team settings if it doesn't suit your team.
The leaderboard shows who has collected the most stars in your chosen timeframe. You can, for example, reward the most active of the month with a small recognition or mention them at team practice. When the leaderboard timeframe resets, everyone has an equal chance to rise to the top again.
Flexible Exercises
A flexible exercise is a task that the child can complete at any time during a period set by the coach. For example, an exercise can be given for the week without being tied to a specific day. A flexible exercise differs from a daily exercise, which appears for the child on a specific training day.
A flexible exercise works well when the exercise can be done on different days. For example, an independent run, mobility exercise, ball handling or other home exercise works well as a flexible exercise. It also works when you want to give the child responsibility for planning their own schedule.
In the child's view, flexible exercises appear in their own section throughout the set period. The exercise stays visible until the child marks it as completed or the period ends.
Yes. The time period can be changed from the Program view by opening the exercise and updating its schedule. If the child has already completed the exercise, the completion is preserved.
In the Activity tab you can see the flexible exercise's completion rate. In the Program view you can also see how much time remains for completing the exercise, for example "3 days".
Quiz
Quiz is a Premium add-on feature (€4.99/mo) that lets you test and strengthen children's understanding of topics like sport rules, tactics, nutrition, recovery or other theory subjects. It works as a great addition alongside physical exercises. During the trial period, Quiz is available for free.
A quiz is created in the Library tab by selecting "Add exercise" and setting the category to "Quiz". Questions are added one at a time. Questions can include an image, video or YouTube link.
In multiple-choice questions, you can specify whether one correct answer is enough or whether the child must select all correct options.
Yes. In the Library, next to the quiz there is a report button showing children's answers by question. The report also shows average correct rates, giving you a quick overview of which topics are mastered and which need review.
In the main view, the quiz locks after completion. This way the official completion is done only once and stars are awarded based on the first attempt. However, the child can practice the quiz again from the Review section, where quizzes from the last 3 days can be reviewed without earning new stars. The coach's report retains the original official result.
The quiz question order can be changed by opening the quiz in edit mode and dragging the questions to the desired order.
Subgroups
Subgroups let you divide the team into smaller groups, such as "Defenders", "Goalkeepers", "Forwards" or "Advanced". Exercises can be targeted to specific subgroups only, so the exercise is visible only to children belonging to those groups.
A subgroup is created from the Members tab under "Subgroups". Select "Add subgroup", give it a name and choose the members.
Yes. The same child can belong to multiple subgroups. For example, a child can be in both "Goalkeepers" and "Advanced" groups. The child receives all exercises targeted to any of their subgroups.
The exercise is created in the Program view as normal. In the exercise settings, select "Target to subgroup" and then one or more subgroups. When an exercise is targeted to a subgroup, other team members won't see it.
The child only sees exercises assigned to them. The subgroup name is not shown to the child as a separate label. For the coach, subgroup labels are visible in the Members list and Program view to make exercise targeting easy to manage.
Yes. When you add a new child to the team, the form shows a "Subgroups" section if subgroups have already been created. You can select the appropriate subgroups for the child right away.
Subscription & Billing
Coach plan (€12.99/mo + €0.60/child/mo) includes 1 team and up to 40 children. Team plan (€29.99/mo + €0.60/child/mo) includes 3 teams and up to 50 children per team. Both have unlimited coaches and basic features. Premium add-on (Quiz + Challenge, €4.99/mo) is available separately for all plans. For clubs, there is a club license — read more in the Club Membership section.
The per-child fee (€0.60/child/mo) covers server, storage and media delivery costs for each user. This keeps the base price affordable and the price scales fairly with team size.
Yes. You get a 14-day free trial with all features available. No payment information is required during the trial. After the trial, the subscription activates only if you've added a payment method.
The subscription is activated through the MiniHiki website (minihiki.com). In the app settings you'll find an "Activate subscription" button that takes you to the subscription page. Payment is handled securely through Stripe — you can pay by card.
Plan changes can be made from the subscription management page. Open the app settings and select "Manage subscription" — you'll enter the Stripe portal where you can change your plan. Unused time is credited to the new subscription.
The Coach plan allows one team. Your first team stays active, and extra teams are frozen. In a frozen team, children can continue training normally for 3 months, but the coach cannot add new exercises or members. If you return to the Team plan, teams are automatically reactivated.
If the payment charge fails, your teams are frozen. Children can continue training for 3 months. When the payment succeeds again, teams return to normal automatically.
Open the app settings and select "Manage subscription". You'll enter the Stripe portal where you can update payment details, change plans or cancel the subscription. You can also manage your subscription at minihiki.com.
Open the app settings and select "Manage subscription". In the Stripe portal you can cancel the subscription. A cancelled subscription stays active until the end of the billing period.
Yes. For clubs we recommend the club license, which includes unlimited teams at an affordable per-team price. Contact niku@minihiki.com and we'll arrange the details.
Club Membership
Club membership (Club license) is a package for sports clubs that lets the club offer MiniHiki to all their teams centrally. The club manages licenses and team coaches use the app normally.
The club license costs €12.99/team/mo + €0.60/child/mo. There is no limit on the number of teams. The larger the club, the lower the unit price per child. A price calculator can be found at minihiki.com/seurat.
Coach and Team plans are for individual coaches. The club license covers the whole club: the club pays one invoice and all club teams get MiniHiki without separate subscriptions.
Contact support@minihiki.com. We'll create a club account and Club Portal where the club contact manages teams, licenses and statistics.
Club Portal (minihiki.com/club) is the club's admin view. There the club contact can see teams, usage statistics, licenses and billing information.
Team exercise data is preserved. Coaches can continue using the app by getting their own Coach or Team license. We notify team coaches by email if the club license ends.
Yes. New clubs get a 30-day free trial with all features available.
The club contact logs into the Club Portal (minihiki.com/club), opens the Teams page and selects "Add team". The form requires the team name, sport and the head coach's name and email. The coach receives an invitation code and instructions by email.
The coach receives an email invitation with an 8-character invitation code (format XX-XXXX-XX) and step-by-step instructions. The coach: 1) Downloads MiniHiki from the App Store or Google Play. 2) Selects "I'm a coach". 3) Selects "I have an invitation". 4) Enters the invitation code. 5) Creates an account or logs in with an existing one. 6) Accepts the invitation. After this, the team is immediately available in the app.
The invitation can also be accepted with an existing account. After entering the invitation code, the coach selects "Log in with existing" and logs in with their normal credentials. The new team is automatically added to the coach's account — old teams remain unchanged.
No. The club license covers all club teams. The coach doesn't need their own Coach or Team subscription for teams under the club. If the coach also has teams outside the club, those need their own subscription.
Yes. A coach can manage a club team under the club license and their own teams with their own Coach or Team subscription at the same time. All teams appear in the same app.
The team's exercise data is preserved. The coach receives an email notification and can continue using the team by getting their own Coach or Team subscription.
Premium Add-on
The Premium add-on (€4.99/mo) unlocks Quiz and Challenge for your team. Quiz is an interactive multiple-choice tool for testing children's theory knowledge. Challenge is a performance tracking tool for children to measure their progress with concrete exercises.
Premium is activated from the app settings under "Premium add-on". You can also activate it directly when you try to create a Quiz or Challenge exercise — the app guides you to activation. Premium is added on top of your existing subscription as a separate charge.
Yes. During the trial period, all features including Quiz and Challenge are available for free. After the trial, they require the Premium add-on.
It depends on the club's agreement. The club can include Premium as part of the club license, giving all club teams Quiz and Challenge automatically. Ask the club contact or the MiniHiki team for details.
Premium can be removed from the app settings under "Premium add-on". Billing ends immediately, and Quiz and Challenge features are locked. Already created exercises and reports are preserved.
Challenge
Challenge is a Premium add-on feature where the coach creates time-bound performance challenges. Children log their results and see a real-time scoreboard. Challenge motivates children to train independently and brings healthy competition to the team.
Open the Challenges view and press the "+" button. Give the challenge a name and description, choose the measurement type (Counter or Time), logging method (Single attempt or Cumulative), duration and goal type. You can also target the challenge to specific subgroups.
In a Counter challenge, the child logs a number (e.g. ball bounces, squats, free throws). In a Time challenge, the child measures time with a stopwatch or enters it manually (e.g. plank, sprint, jump rope).
Single Attempt: one try per day, a better result replaces the previous one. Good for chasing records (e.g. long jump, sprint time). Cumulative: unlimited entries, sum and best single result are tracked. Good for encouraging activity (e.g. weekly bounce challenge).
Personal goal: each player has their own target (e.g. 50 squats/day). Team goal: the whole team collects a combined result (e.g. 1000 bounces per week). Free: no goal, just tracking and ranking.
Yes. When creating, you can select target groups from the subgroups. If you don't select any groups, the challenge is visible to all team members.
Max attempts limits the number of daily entries in a cumulative challenge. For example, max 5 attempts prevents overload. Empty = unlimited.
Football: ball bouncing (who can do the most in a row?), free kicks (hits/10), wall passes. Basketball: free throws, 3-pointers, dribbling. Ice hockey: shots on goal, skating time, puck handling. Gymnastics: plank, stretching holds, handstand duration. Athletics: sprint times, long jump, circuit training. General: squats, push-ups, jump rope, balance exercises.
The scoreboard shows team members ranked by performance. Top 3 get medals (gold, silver, bronze). For each player you can see the best single result, total sum, number of attempts and average. The scoreboard updates in real time.
Start with a short challenge (1–3 days) so players learn the system. A team goal commits everyone — they all pull together. Use max attempts to prevent overload. Share the scoreboard at practice — it motivates!
Coach Dashboard (web tool)
Coach Dashboard is MiniHiki's web tool for coaches at minihiki.com/coach. It lets you manage exercises, programs and the team on a computer — working on a larger screen is efficient, especially when you have many exercises.
Go to minihiki.com/coach and log in with the same credentials as in the MiniHiki app (email and password). The login link can also be found in the website menu under "Coach login".
In the Coach Dashboard you can create and edit exercises, build weekly programs, manage the exercise library, add media (images, videos, YouTube links, PDF files), manage tags and exercise groups, export exercises as CSV, and send messages to the team or subgroups.
Yes. The Coach Dashboard is for exercise planning and team management. Children still use the MiniHiki app on their phone for completing exercises. The coach needs the app for account creation and team setup.
The Dashboard is designed for a computer browser. It also works on a tablet, but you'll get the best experience on a larger screen.
Not separately. The Coach Dashboard is included in all MiniHiki subscriptions (Coach and Team). Log in with the same credentials as in the app.
Yes. All changes sync in real time. When you add or edit an exercise in the Dashboard, the child sees the change immediately in their app.
Technical Questions
The app needs an internet connection for login and data sync. Exercises are downloaded to the device, so short interruptions won't cause problems.
MiniHiki works on iPhone (iOS 15+) and Android phones (Android 8+).
Yes. The app has no ads, chat function or social media. The child only sees their own exercises.
